Henna Aftercare
After you've applied henna, it's important to take special care of your skin to ensure the best possible results. Here are some tips to help you out.
Tip 1
Steam your henna: Once your henna has dried, carefully steam your henna over hot water. You can add a few whole cloves in the water too
Tip 2
Keep your hand warm while the henna dries to ensure maximum stain is achieved
Tip 3
Keep it covered: Cover the henna design with Mefix tape (available from our store) or with a nylon sock for the first few hours. This also helps prevents smudging
Tip 4
Avoid scrubbing: When it's time to remove the henna, use Jojoba oil to soften the henna and gently scrape off with a butter knife. Avoid scrubbing the area too hard, as this can cause the henna to fade faster
Tip 5
Avoid water: As much as possible, avoid getting the henna design wet for the first 24-48 hours. This can cause the henna to fade prematurely. Use the Golden Balm before you wash your hands to prevent excessive water fading your stain. The Golden Balm will also darken your henna stain
Tip 6
Keep your skin moisturized: Apply our Jojoba aftercare oil to your skin after the henna has dried. This helps seal the henna and allows it to last longer
Tip 7
Avoid harsh chemicals: Be mindful of the detergents, solvents, and other chemicals you use around the henna design. Harsh chemicals can cause the henna to fade or smudge quicker
